The ultimate Metal Gear game. Without question.

UK, May 30, 2008 - In return for

letting us play Metal Gear Solid 4 before its release, Konami issued us

with a list of things that we're not allowed to discuss. This list of

prohibited topics is pretty long, and even extends as far as several

facts that the company itself has already made public. Regardless of

Konami's list of prohibited topics though, this ...

Everyday Shooter is anything but an everyday shooter. Such a title belies this game's level of creativity, though maybe that was the point. Developed by a single programmer named Jonathan Mak, this is a wonderfully unique and engaging spin on the Robotron-style dual-stick shooter that countless games have copied to death over the years. It offers up eight stages that provide entirely separate challenges from one another and a solid level of difficulty. It also has a dreamy vibe created by its ...

I recently got sucked into Burnout Paradise, playing about a half-hour of the racing game due for release this Winter. While a half-hour may not seem like much, at hands-on gaming events, we writers rarely have the time or interest to play more than about fifteen minutes of a title before moving to the next.

Criterion creative director, Alex Ward chatted while I raced through the realistic city; he was clearly proud and excited by the game's deviation from previous Burnout franchise titles. ...

Here's some food for thought: Verbatim has started manufacturing minature (UMD-sized) Blu-ray discs able to hold 7.5 gigabytes. The discs will appear in North America around October for use in handheld camcorders by Hitachi. Verbatim and Hitachi teaming up to bring Blu-ray home for the masses to record HD footage of their children opening Christmas presents? Hell yeah.

This isn't really PS3-related or Sony-related, but it is Blu-ray related thus we feel it's important to keep you guys ...

There has been a lot of hype over Killzone 2 since the new E3 trailer came out, but despite all the hoopla, not even any of the journalists who were at E3 seem be capable of saying one measly thing about what the developers are doing with gameplay or what new features and mechanics are in store for the game.

Instead, practically every single preview of Killzone 2 out there consists of just a visual description of the cut scenes and a quip comparing the new in-game graphics to the "faked" ...

Eye of Judgment Preview

We take a close look at what's on the cards for Sony's creature-battling PS3 EyeToy offering.

UK, July 30, 2007 - Let's face it: there's no way this was ever going to work. Firstly, we're harnessing the almighty power of the PS3 to play, well, a card game. Next up, there's that gimmicky EyeToy malarky - and we all know how that usually turns out. Here's the kicker though: as wholly stupid as Eye of Judgment might appear on paper - or in the flesh for that matter, ...

Ryu slices and dices his way onto the PlayStation 3. Find out if he survives the journey.

US, June 29, 2007 - Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox was a landmark release for the system, partly for its lightning-quick gameplay and brutal difficulty, and partly because of its outstanding visual prowess. It's arguably the best-looking game to ever hit the system. As good as it was, the perfectionists over at Tecmo, and Tomonobu Itagaki in particular, decided to refine it even more with the release ...

We set eyes on Sony's first next-gen take on its tactical series

US, May 17, 2007 - Though no word has been given until... just now, it's been rather obvious for some time that the SOCOM franchise would be making its way to the PlayStation 3. Well, the orders have been given and SOCOM Confrontation will be headed to Sony's third console sometime this fall.

Hardcore fans of the series will certainly be interested to know that the game is not being handled by Zipper Interactive but rather ...

UK, July 6, 2007 - Lair has come along way since that bridge. For what seemed like months on end, all there was to see of Factor 5's red-hot dragon riding game was a disparate battle between a handful of dragons and a load of soldiers scrapping it out on a bridge, with no reason as to why it was all kicking off.

Since then, Sony has pulled its cloak of secrecy back a little further, revealing story details behind the game along with a few new levels. However, with E3 looming and the game's ...

US, July 26, 2007 - At last, the metallic sounds of battle echo through the cubicles of IGN PlayStation. Heavenly Sword, the eagerly awaited game from developer Ninja Theory, showed up in demo form on the PlayStation Store today. While this is a demo the PlayStation Team has seen before in various forms (see Jeremy's impressions from May), we were still pumped to spend some more time with Nariko and her incredible, almost poetic, heavenly blades.

Though Ninja Theory still has time to smooth ...

US, July 11, 2007 - When a game gets name dropped during one of the biggest press conferences of E3, you expect a lot. So, imagine our disappointment when we picked up the controller for Folklore -- one of the games that got some major lip service during Sony's Wednesday morning press conference -- and found the same demo we played at Sony's Gamers Day.

Dejected, we wandered the Sony showroom until we ran into a benevolent PR woman who whisked us away to a secret room of plush carpets, snazzy ...
